About the game

What is Worms Zone?

Worms Zone is a free arena snake game for the browser: you steer a worm around a big, food-covered map, eat everything in your path to grow longer, and try to make the other worms run into you before you run into them. GameDistribution lists it as “Worms Zone a Slithery Snake”.

The official description gives the worm a personality — “Having tried to get a real anaconda, a small worm never gets stuck in one place – he’s ready to bite everyone” — and warns that “there is a danger to be eaten by a more successful player”. The food is the other half of the joke: the worms are “real gourmets”, and the arena is scattered with apples, pumpkins, toast, cheese, cake, tomatoes and more.

The main menu is simple. A big To battle! button starts a round; Worm wardrobe opens the skin shop; a podium button opens the leaderboard; a gear opens the settings; and the top bar shows your profile level, an apple counter (20/20 on our visit) and your coins.

Inside the arena, a list in the top-left corner ranks the top ten worms and shows how many are playing — 132 in our round — while a mini-map sits in the top-right. A task with its own clock runs along the top: ours was “Defeat 5 worms”, counting down from just under five minutes. Three power-up buttons sit at the bottom of the screen, and glowing potions lie among the food.

When your worm is caught, a result card shows your place on a trophy, your final size, the coins you collected, the worms you defeated, how long you lasted and the experience you earned. Back on the menu, the game sometimes hands you a gift — ours was a potion, with an optional ad to double it.

The Worm wardrobe is where Worms Zone’s coins go. Skins are sorted by how you get them — for coins, for watching ads, or for real money — and each card names its rarity: Corgi is Uncommon, Banshee is Rare and Water Dragon is Mythical. Ad-unlocked skins show a counter of how many videos are left, from 4 for Rhino to 8 for Banshee and Panther.

GameDistribution lists Worms Zone under Peaky Muzzle, has carried it since September 4, 2019 and last updated it on September 23, 2026; the build we played was version 6.29.2. It is offered in 20 languages. The mobile app sometimes called “Worms Zone .io – Hungry Snake” is a separate listing; this page is about the browser game.

How to play

Playing Worms Zone

  1. 1
    Go to battle

Press Play, then To battle! on the Worms Zone menu. You start as a short worm somewhere in a crowded arena.

  2. 2
    Steer with the mouse

GameDistribution’s instructions: “Use the mouse to control the worm’s direction and space bar to speed up it.” Your worm keeps moving; you only choose where it goes.

  3. 3
    Eat to grow

Swim through the food scattered around the arena. Each bite makes your worm longer and moves you up the ranking in the top-left corner.

  4. 4
    Do not hit other worms

Running your head into another worm ends your round. Make the others run into you instead.

  5. 5
    Use power-ups

Collect glowing potions and use the three power-up buttons at the bottom of the screen when you have them.

  6. 6
    Check the result

When your round ends, the result card shows your place, size, coins, kills, lifetime and experience. Restart or close it and go back to the menu.

Tips & strategy

How to win at Worms Zone

  • Grow before you fight. A short worm is easy to trap. Spend the opening minute of a Worms Zone round eating rather than chasing, until you are long enough to circle other worms.

  • Let them hit you. Worms die by running their head into another worm. Cross in front of a rival’s path instead of heading straight for it, and let it crash into your body.

  • Speed up in short bursts. GameDistribution lists Space to speed up. Save it for cutting across a rival or escaping a trap instead of holding it the whole time.

  • Watch the mini-map. The mini-map in the top-right shows the arena around you. Use it to steer toward open space and food, and away from crowds of bigger worms.

  • Play to the task. Each round has a timed task such as “Defeat 5 worms”. Tasks are worth chasing once you are big enough to trap others.

  • Grab potions. Glowing potions among the food are power-ups. Gifts on the menu can hand out more — ours was a potion marked with a magnifying glass.

  • Resize the mini-map. Settings › Arena moves the mini-map to the left or right and sets its size to ×1, ×1.2 or ×1.5. A bigger map makes threats easier to see.

Good to know — Worms Zone even lets you change what the arena food looks like: Settings › Food offers alternative food skins, such as a pixel-art fruit set for 4,000 coins.

Not in the game. Coins are collected during rounds — the result card counts them — and the wardrobe sells skins for coins, for watching ads or for real money. Pages promising unlimited money or skins are not part of the official game.
