What is Penalty Shooters?

Penalty Shooters is the classic free penalty-shootout game: you switch between striker and goalkeeper, take the best of five kicks, and beat team after team to lift the cup.

One of the longest-running soccer shootout games on the web — live since 2015 from FlashFooty — it keeps the format simple. A target sweeps across the goal, you click to place your shot, then you’re in goal trying to keep theirs out.

The twist that sets it apart from newer clones is height control: you don’t just aim left or right, you hold the button to lift the ball, so placement is genuinely two-dimensional.

How to play

Playing Penalty Shooters

  1. 1
    Aim your shot

As the kicker, a yellow-and-red target slides across the goal. Click to stop it where you want the ball to go.

  2. 2
    Set the height

Hold the left mouse button before releasing to lift the shot; let go sooner to keep it low. That vertical control is the key to beating the keeper.

  3. 3
    Switch to goalkeeper

When your opponent shoots, the target flashes up somewhere in the goal. Click it to dive and make the save.

  4. 4
    Don’t dive early

Wait for ball contact before you commit — diving too soon leaves the other corners wide open.

  5. 5
    Win the round

Best of five kicks wins. Beat each team to bank points and move toward the cup.

Tips & strategy

How to win at Penalty Shooters

  • Use the full goal. Because you control height as well as side, aim for the top corners where the keeper simply can’t reach.

  • Don’t repeat yourself. The official tip: vary your placement every kick so the keeper can’t read a pattern.

  • Dive late in goal. Wait for the striker’s contact before clicking — early dives get punished into the opposite corner.

  • Watch your power on lifted shots. Hold too long and the ball clears the bar; learn the timing that drops it just under the crossbar.

  • Bank the easy ones. Take simple, well-placed kicks early and save the risky top-corner attempts for when you really need a goal.

Good to know — Penalty Shooters has been online since 2015, making it one of the original browser penalty games — and unlike many clones it lets you control shot height by holding the button, not just left/right placement.
