About the game

What is Daily Sudoku?

Daily Sudoku is a free online sudoku game that gives you a dated 9×9 puzzle every day, in three difficulties — Easy, Medium and Hard — and a calendar to go back and play the days you missed. Each solved puzzle earns a star.

The rules are the classic ones, and the game states them on its first screen: “Fill all cells so that each row, each column and each 3x3 block contains the numbers 1-9 with no duplicates.” Prefilled numbers can’t be changed; you select an empty cell and press the number you want.

We counted the grid of our first puzzle: 55 numbers were already filled in, leaving 26 empty cells, and the grid had exactly one solution — we checked it with a solver. That is the point of a good sudoku: every cell can be worked out by logic, with no guessing required.

The difficulties differ in two ways, and the game spells both out. Easy has “more numbers with Auto-check”; Medium has “less numbers, no Auto-check”; Hard has “few numbers, no Auto-check”. Auto-check is what greets a correct entry on Easy with a “Perfect!”.

Around the grid sit the tools: a red erase button and a green pencil that switches “Notes mode” on, so you can pencil in candidates; a timer; and a light-bulb hint button and a magnifier on the right. The pause menu has buttons to resume, restart and go home, and its own music and sound switches. Coins tick up as you play — ours went from 25 to 40 over a single puzzle.

The calendar is the heart of Daily Sudoku. After our first puzzle the game opened October 2026: every day up to today was playable, future days were greyed out, and arrows led back to September. A star counter showed how many of the month’s stars we had — 1 of 75, which is three difficulties for each of the 25 days so far — and the tip below read “You can tap to any previous day to play more Sudoku!”

GameDistribution lists Daily Sudoku under Agame and has carried it since November 28, 2023, in 11 languages. And if you like your sudoku with footballers instead of digits, PlayFutbol has its own daily Football Sudoku among its trivia games.

Tips & strategy

How to win at Daily Sudoku

  • Never guess on Easy. The first Daily Sudoku we played left only 26 of 81 cells empty and had exactly one solution, so every cell could be found by logic. If you are tempted to guess, there is a single you have not spotted yet.

  • Start with the fullest row, column or block. A row with seven or eight numbers already in it leaves only one or two possibilities. Fill those first — each new number narrows down the cells around it.

  • Scan for singles. For each number from 1 to 9, look at one 3×3 block and ask where that number can still go. If only one cell in the block is possible, it goes there.

  • Pencil in candidates on Medium and Hard. Without auto-check, a wrong guess can sit unnoticed for many moves. Turn on notes mode and write the possible numbers into tricky cells rather than guessing.

  • Learn on Easy. Easy’s auto-check tells you immediately when an entry is right. Use it to practise scanning before moving up to Medium.

  • Use the calendar for practice. Missed a day? Every past date of the month is still playable, in all three difficulties. A backlog is the best way to get quicker.

  • Collect the stars. Each difficulty of each day is a star. In a month, that is three stars a day — 75 by the 25th — and the counter at the top of the calendar keeps score.

Good to know — Daily Sudoku counts stars by month and difficulty: on October 25 the calendar showed 75 stars available — three difficulties for each day so far.

Frequently asked questions

Select an empty cell and press a number from 1 to 9. Fill the grid so that every row, every column and every 3×3 block contains each number exactly once. Prefilled numbers cannot be changed.

Yes. Daily Sudoku opens on the puzzle for today’s date, and every earlier day of the month stays playable on the calendar.

Yes. After a puzzle the calendar opens; tap any earlier date and choose a difficulty. The game’s own tip: “You can tap to any previous day to play more Sudoku!” Future days are greyed out.

Three: Easy (“more numbers with Auto-check”), Medium (“less numbers, no Auto-check”) and Hard (“few numbers, no Auto-check”).

On Easy, the game checks each number as you enter it and confirms a correct one with “Perfect!”. Medium and Hard leave it off, so you only find out when the grid is complete.

Yes. The green pencil button turns notes mode on, so you can pencil candidates into a cell; press it again to go back to entering numbers.

GameDistribution lists it for iOS and Android, and the game is laid out for a phone: a tall column with the grid on top and big 1–9 buttons along the bottom, all played with taps.

A timer below the grid counts up while you play, but there is no time limit — it is there if you want to race your own best.

No. Daily Sudoku is an interactive game played in your browser, not a printable puzzle sheet.

Select the cell and press the red button to the left of the timer. Only numbers you entered can be erased; the prefilled numbers are fixed.

The calendar opens on the current month, with a star counter at the top. Tap another day to choose its difficulty and play it.

The puzzle we checked did: we entered its 55 given numbers into a solver and it found exactly one way to complete the grid. A single solution is what lets you solve by logic alone.

GameDistribution lists Daily Sudoku under Agame and has carried it since November 28, 2023. We did not see a developer credit inside the game.
