About the game

What is Goalkeeper Wiz?

Goalkeeper Wiz is a free 3D goalkeeping game in which you pick one of 32 national teams and keep goal for a whole match: the other side takes ten shots, you move your gloves with the mouse to stop them, and every three saves earns your team a goal.

That rule turns the usual penalty game inside out. You never shoot. Your team’s score comes only from your saves, so with ten shots a match the most you can score is three — and the opponent scores every time you let one in. Work it through and the margin is thin: let in one shot and nine saves still win it 3:1, but let in two and the eight saves left make only two goals.

GameDistribution published Goalkeeper Wiz on November 8, 2022, and lists it under Physical Form. The game’s own settings screen names the developer as DParrot, gives the version as 1.0.14, and credits the music to “Rock It” by Coma-Media from Pixabay. It is built in Unity, so it takes a few seconds to load before the title screen appears. Penalty Kick Wiz, also in our arcade, shares the “Wiz” name and is credited to Dead Parrot Interactive.

The title screen keeps three running totals — Cups won, Matches played and Shots saved — next to a Pick Your Gloves button. There are 20 pairs of gloves: a starter pair and 19 locked ones priced from 150 to 2,850 credits in steps of 150. Credits come from saves (each of ours was worth 10) and from an optional ad that pays 100.

The team screen is a grid of 32 flags. At the start, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina, France, England, Spain and the Netherlands carry padlocks; after our first match the game announced “New team unlocked!” and the Netherlands opened up. Each match is a round of a knockout cup — our first was a 1st Round tie between Croatia and Costa Rica — and the official description sets the goal as leading your team “to the world championship title”.

Before kick-off you choose the difficulty with a single switch. Hard Mode off means the target is visible: a translucent orange band appears where the shot is heading. The in-game tutorial says Hard Mode removes that shot indicator but pays double credits. Next to Super Goalie and Goalkeeper – World Challenge, the other keeper games in our arcade, Goalkeeper Wiz is the one with a tournament, national teams and a reason to count your saves.

How to play

Playing Goalkeeper Wiz

  1. 1
    Press Play

Wait for Goalkeeper Wiz to load, then press Play on the title screen. Pick Your Gloves lets you change gloves first if you have the credits.

  2. 2
    Choose a nation

Pick a flag from the grid of 32. Padlocked teams open up as you play.

  3. 3
    Set the difficulty

On the round screen, leave Hard Mode off to see where each shot is going, or switch it on for double credits and no shot indicator.

  4. 4
    Move your gloves

Move the mouse and the gloves follow. With Hard Mode off, an orange band marks where the shot will cross the line — get your gloves into it.

  5. 5
    Turn saves into goals

Each save fills one of the three glove slots at the top of the screen with a golden glove. Three golden gloves and your team scores.

  6. 6
    Win the match

The counter beside the scoreboard shows how many of the ten shots remain. When it runs out, “Match is over!” appears, and a win takes you to the next round.

Tips & strategy

How to win at Goalkeeper Wiz

  • Go to the band, not the ball. With Hard Mode off, the orange band appears before the ball reaches you and shows where it will cross the line. Moving to the band early is far easier than chasing the ball.

  • Expect the shot to bend. Shots in Goalkeeper Wiz curl in the air — one we watched swung across the goal toward the far post — so the ball’s early direction is a poor guide. Trust the band.

  • Do the arithmetic. Ten shots, one goal for every three saves: three goals is the most you can score in a Goalkeeper Wiz match. Concede one and nine saves still win 3:1; concede two and the eight saves left can only make it 2:2. Treat every shot as if the match depends on it.

  • Bank credits before trying Hard Mode. Each save earned us 10 credits with Hard Mode off. Learn the timing there before you switch the indicator off for double credits.

  • Use the free credits. The glove screen offers 100 credits for watching an ad — enough, with a few saves, for the first unlockable pair at 150.

  • Keep playing to open teams. The big nations start locked. We unlocked the Netherlands after a single match, even a lost one, so early games are worth playing out.

  • Start from the middle. Between shots, bring the gloves back toward the centre of the goal. From there, no part of the frame is more than half a goal-width away when the next band appears.

Good to know — In Goalkeeper Wiz your team only scores through you: every three saves becomes a goal, so with ten shots a match the most your side can ever score is three.

Frequently asked questions

Move the mouse to move your gloves and get them in front of each shot. The opponent takes ten shots per match; every three saves earns your team a goal, and every shot that gets past you is a goal for them.

You do not shoot. Each save adds a golden glove to the three slots at the top of the screen, and three golden gloves mean your team scores — the in-game tutorial puts it as “3 golden gloves = your team scores”.

One. A match is ten shots and every three saves is a goal, so conceding once still leaves nine saves and a 3:1 win, while conceding twice leaves eight saves — two goals — and no way past 2:2.

A switch on the round screen before each match. With it off, an orange band shows where each shot is going. With it on, there is no shot indicator, and the tutorial says you earn double credits.

Thirty-two national teams. Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina, France, England, Spain and the Netherlands start locked and open up as you play — we unlocked the Netherlands after our first match.

Buying gloves. There are 19 locked pairs, priced from 150 to 2,850 credits. Saves earn credits — 10 each in our games with Hard Mode off — and an optional ad on the glove screen gives 100.

Your run ends and the game returns to the title screen. Before that, the result screen offers to replay the match if you watch an ad.

The game’s settings screen credits the developer as DParrot (version 1.0.14). GameDistribution lists it under Physical Form and published it on November 8, 2022.
