How Futbol Wordle works
Futbol Wordle is the daily football wordle, two ways to play. In Classic mode you guess a mystery footballer's surname letter by letter; in Attribute mode each guess is a full player whose profile is compared against the answer's across six attributes. Six tries in either mode. New player every day.
Attribute mode draws from 455 footballers with complete profiles — spread across 14 leagues (118 Premier League players alone) and 5 continents. Classic mode draws surnames from the full 773-player database.

Read the feedback
🟩 / 🟨 / ⬜ tells you what is right in Classic. In Attribute mode the same three colors apply to each of six attributes, plus arrows show whether age or jersey number should go up or down.
Best starter surnames (Classic mode)
Of the 647 footballer surnames eligible in Classic mode, the letter A appears in 59.8% of them. The top six most-common letters are A, E, I, R, O, N — opening with a surname covering four or more of these gives you the sharpest first read.

Futbol Wordle is maintained by the PlayFutbol Data Team — a small group tracking footballer attributes since January 2025. Each player's nationality, position, current club, age, and jersey number is cross-referenced against public sources (Transfermarkt, Wikipedia, official club pages) and manually audited every week. We do not use AI-generated player biographies.

How many tries do I get on football wordle?
Six in both Classic and Attribute modes.
What are the 6 attributes in attribute mode?
Nationality, league, position, age, jersey number, and current club. Each verdict is exact match (🟩), close (🟨), or miss (⬜). Age and jersey number also show up/down arrows.
How is football wordle different from regular Wordle?
Guesses must be real footballer surnames (Classic) or real players (Attribute). Surname lengths vary from 3 to 8 letters — there's no fixed five-letter grid.
Can I play football wordle unlimited?
Yes. Attribute mode has a practice mode that runs on a seed you control — play as many as you want without affecting your daily streak. Classic practice is on our roadmap.
What's the difference between classic and attribute wordle?
Classic is pure wordplay: type a surname, read the tile colors, deduce letter-by-letter. Attribute is pure deduction: pick a player and read which of six attributes matched. Different skills, same 6-try budget.
Does football wordle use real players?
Yes — every answer is a real professional footballer from our 773-player curated database.
How do I share my football wordle score?
After each solve, the share button copies an emoji grid (🟩🟨⬜) to your clipboard. No spoilers are revealed.
Is there a football wordle archive?
Yes. Past Attribute mode puzzles are all playable from the archive. Classic archive is on our roadmap.
Why does my guess have to be a real surname?
Both modes validate guesses against the real-player list to keep the puzzle fair. If your guess is not in our database it is rejected — no try is spent.
What does "close" mean for nationality or league?
Nationality is close when the guessed player shares a continent with the answer. League is close when the guessed player's league is in the same country as the answer's league. Age is close within 3 years, jersey number within 5.
Is football wordle free?
Yes. No signup, no paywall, no ads in the game flow.
How are the daily puzzles chosen?
A seeded random generator runs each day. The same seed always produces the same puzzle, so every player worldwide sees the same mystery footballer for a given date.
