Privacy Policy

PlayFutbol (playfutbol.app) is a free website of daily football trivia games. You do not need an account to play, and we never ask for your name or email address. This policy explains what data is involved when you use the site, who processes it, and the choices you have. You can reach us at support@playfutbol.app.

Your game progress, scores, streaks, statistics, badges and settings are saved in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them, and they do not follow you to another browser or device.

• Answer counts for Deep Cut and Crowd Favourite. When you play a daily round, each valid answer adds one to a running count for that category and player — this is how the games know which answers are popular. Nothing that identifies you (no cookie, device ID, IP address or account) is stored with the count. Archive and practice rounds are not recorded. The counts are kept with Upstash, our database provider.
• Abuse prevention. To stop automated flooding of those counts, your IP address is held briefly in server memory to limit how many answers can be submitted per minute. It is not written to any database or log of ours.
• Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes request data such as IP address, browser type and the page requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which games are played and how the site performs. It collects information such as the pages you view, how you interact with them, your device and browser, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics uses cookies to tell visits apart.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default and are only used if you consent (see section 6). Without consent, Google may still receive basic, cookieless signals. You can block Google Analytics in any browser with Google's opt-out add-on.

PlayFutbol is free because it shows ads, served by Google AdSense.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
• Other certified ad networks may also serve ads on this site through AdSense, using their own cookies. You can opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, at www.youronlinechoices.eu. Visitors shown our consent message can see and manage the full list of partners there.

Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its ads.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are shown a consent message from Google's consent management platform, which is certified under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. Advertising and analytics cookies are not used, and ads are not personalized, until you make a choice there.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the Privacy and cookie settings link that appears at the bottom of the page for visitors in those regions.

Games in the Arcade section are made by third parties and delivered by GameDistribution (Azerion) and GamePix. They run inside an embedded frame, may show their own ads, and may set cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies, which you can find on their websites. Our daily trivia games are not affected by this.

• Local storage — keeps your game progress (section 2). Needed for the games to work.
• Consent storage — Google's consent platform stores your choice so you are not asked again on every page.
• Analytics cookies — Google Analytics (section 4).
• Advertising cookies — Google and its ad partners (section 5), and the arcade providers inside their frames (section 7).

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the games keep working, but clearing site data erases your progress.

PlayFutbol is made for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. We hold very little that can be linked to you — your game data is on your own device, and answer counts carry no identifier — so most requests concern data held by Google, which you can manage through the tools above or your Google account. For anything else, email us.

Some US state laws treat the use of cookies for personalized advertising as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. To opt out of personalized advertising, use Google's Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info.

• Game data in your browser: until you clear it.
• Answer counts: as long as the games that use them run. They are anonymous totals.
• IP addresses held for abuse prevention: about a minute, in memory only.
• Google Analytics and advertising data: according to Google's policies and settings.

Vercel, Google and Upstash may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the EEA, UK or Switzerland, these providers rely on recognized safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

We update this policy when the way the site handles data changes, and the date at the top shows the latest revision.
