About the game

What is Screw Puzzle?

Screw Puzzle is a free nuts-and-bolts logic game for the browser in which you pull screws out of a board and drive them into empty holes until every metal plate drops away. GameDistribution’s instructions put it in one line: “Click the screw to take it then click the hole to drop it down. Release all the metal plates.”

The game is built for a phone held upright, so it plays in a tall portrait frame. Its main menu has three buttons — Start Game, Jigsaw Mission and Jigsaw Puzzles — under a settings gear and two counters, one for keys and one for coins, both at zero when you first arrive.

Every level of the main game shows the same goal at the top of the screen: “Drop all metal plates”. The first level is a single wooden bar held by one screw, with one empty hole beside it. Tap the screw and it lifts out of the board; tap the empty hole and the screw drives in there instead — and the bar, held by nothing, falls away.

From level 2 the plates start to overlap, and the game turns into a question of order. Plates fall the moment their last screw comes out, and a falling plate can land on — and be held up by — the plate beneath it. Level 2 also introduces a padlock fixed to one plate and a golden key lying on another: tap the key and the padlock turns into an ordinary screw that you can pull like the rest.

Each solved level pays coins. Ours paid 100 per level, with the choice of a plain Get button or a “10x Get” button that plays a video, and a progress bar toward a treasure chest moved from 1/6 to 2/6. Below every level sit three helpers — Key, Tips and Skip — each marked with a video icon.

Jigsaw Mission is a different puzzle on the same board. Its goal reads “Make the shape”: a small picture shows a wooden piece in a frame, and you fix pieces into a seven-by-seven grid of holes to match it. GameDistribution lists Screw Puzzle under HolaStudio and published it on March 18, 2024; the game itself shows no developer credit.

How to play

Playing Screw Puzzle

  1. 1
    Start a level

Press Play, then Start Game on the Screw Puzzle menu. The goal at the top of every level is “Drop all metal plates”.

  2. 2
    Pull a screw

Click or tap a screw. It lifts out of the board and waits for you to choose where it goes.

  3. 3
Drive it into an empty hole

Click or tap an empty hole. The screw goes in there instead, and anything it was holding is now free.

  4. 4
    Watch the plates fall

A plate with no screws left drops away. A plate can also rest on another one, so the order you free them in matters.

  5. 5
    Use keys on padlocks

Some plates are held by a padlock. Tap the key on the board and the padlock becomes a screw you can pull.

  6. 6
    Collect your coins

A solved level pays coins and fills the bar toward the next treasure chest. Press Next for the next level, or Lobby to go back to the menu.

Tips & strategy

How to win at Screw Puzzle

  • Find the plate on top. In Screw Puzzle a plate that rests on another will hold it up. Work out which plate is on top of the pile and free that one first, so the ones beneath it have room to fall.

  • Count your empty holes. Every screw you pull needs somewhere to go. Before your first move, count the empty holes — they decide how many screws you can have out at once.

  • Reuse the holes plates leave behind. When a plate drops away, the holes in the board underneath it are often free. Look for new places to park screws after every fall.

  • Grab the key early. A padlocked plate cannot move until its padlock is opened. Tap the key as soon as you can reach it, and the padlock becomes one more screw you can pull.

  • Restart rather than undo. Screw Puzzle has a restart button in the top-left corner. If a plate lands somewhere it blocks the rest, starting the level again is quicker than trying to work around it.

  • Save the helpers for hard levels. Key, Tips and Skip each play a video. You do not need them on the opening levels, so keep them in reserve for a level that really has you stuck.

Good to know — Screw Puzzle’s second level turns a padlock into a puzzle piece: tap the golden key lying on the board and the padlock becomes an ordinary screw you can pull.

The goal at the top of every main level is the same: “Drop all metal plates”. The puzzle is in the order — which screws to move, and where to put them.

Some plates are fixed by a padlock. Tap the key on the board and the padlock turns into an ordinary screw, which you can then pull and move like any other.

It landed on another plate. In Screw Puzzle a falling plate rests on whatever is beneath it, so free the lower plates — or free the plates in a different order.
